02 — The consultancy

A retail consultancy built in Asia.

Most cross-border retail consultants land in Beijing, run a desk study, and fly home. We have been here for 22 years. We have signed leases, opened doors, paid contractors, fired them, hired better ones, and opened more doors.

Founded New York 2002, on the ground in China since 2008. What started as a fashion licensing house grew into a full-stack retail and experiential operator. Hatchet Global is the consultancy we built out of that practice — the team and the network, made available to outside brands.

We are not a research firm. Every project on our shelf was opened with our money, our team, and our risk. That is why brands come to us when they need a partner, not a deck.

Single point of accountability. One team handles site sourcing, deal structuring, store build, opening, ongoing operations, and the marketing that fills the stores. The same people you talk to on Day One are the people on the ground when the doors open and the people running it on Year Five.
